WORKSHOP

South Side Story

Everyone wants to belong to a group. It’s an evolutionary instinct, a survival mechanism. We think, move, and define ourselves through groups. And the moment you choose a side, you choose not to belong to the other.

Let’s place two groups on opposite sides of a line! In this workshop, we bring polarization into the playground of improv. Keywords will be group identity, belonging and conflict. Nonetheless, we are bringing a story of hope. Get ready to play with authentic emotions to deepen relationships, and to play with physicality like stage combat.

Welcome to South Side Story.

SITE SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE

South Side Story

South Side Story is about two groups of people with a clear opposite opinion. Being inspired by ‘West Side Story’, this improv format plays with the concept of polarisation. It will show the beautiful colours of love and loyalty that come with belonging to a group, just as well as the ugly colours of a confrontation with the opposing group. Or is it vice versa?
